This week I challenged myself to recreate a painting of Lee Madgwick, one of my favorite painters. It was an interesting experience adapting something like this to a 3D scene, as some aspects of perspective and lighting may not necessarily function correctly in the third dimension. This challenge ended up being a great exercise in texturing, as I tried to recreate the texture of the building in the painting as closely as possible. The building was textured entirely in blender and baked down to work correctly in EEVEE.
Using EEVEE for this project ended up allowing for alot more artistic control and speedy iteration with the realtime performance it offers. Some of the surfaces, like the concrete, was enhanced with a baked AO texture to give more advanced shading than what EEVEE can offer.
I decided to add some subtle wind animation later into the project using geometry nodes. It ended up not being very visible in the final animation, but I'm happy with it nevertheless.
